Donuts are the new big thing. Stylish donuts, deluxe donuts, custom doughnuts and design-your-own donuts are all trying to mask the fact they’re fried pieces of dough more likely to inspire a heart attack than a culinary prize.
But a Food Network promotion on Thursday, sent decorate-your-own doughnuts kits to media outlets across Canada, with a challenge to post their photos online with the hashtag #DonutShowdown.
Each box included a doughnuts, a tube of icing, coconut flakes, skor bits, butterscotch chips, Himalayan salt, and simulated bacon bits. Then the recipient’s inner designer was supposed to go nuts.
It’s cute, right? Or gross. Depending on your doughnuts political leanings.
Here is what resulted. You tell us which are great and which are awful.
